About Us

In 2018, two women in Glynn County asked a simple question: what can we do to help solve homelessness in our own community?

Anne Stembler and Linda Heagy didn’t have all the answers yet — but they had determination, a growing circle of friends who cared, and a belief that everyone deserves a safe place to call home. That answer became Hand in Hand of Glynn.

To help end homelessness in Glynn County by providing permanent, supportive, and affordable homes to adults experiencing chronic homelessness.

A life of independence and dignity begins with a home — and the supportive care to make it last.

2018 — Hand in Hand of Glynn earns nonprofit status.
2020 — Land purchased, permits approved, partnerships formed. $2.5M raised.
2023 — The 60 homes and the community center are completed.
2024 — The first residents move home at The Grove.

From a Question to a Groundbreaking

Through unwavering determination, community support, and the generosity of faithful friends, family members, and donors, Anne and Linda secured the property that would become The Grove at Correll Commons — the former site of Altama Presbyterian Church on Altama Avenue.

A Nationally Recognized Model

Today, Hand in Hand of Glynn has grown from a dream shared by two compassionate women into a nationally recognized Housing First community. The Grove is home to 60 permanent, supportive, and affordable houses — and to 60 neighbors who once had nowhere else to go.

The People Behind the Mission

Hand in Hand is powered by a small staff, a dedicated board of community leaders, and hundreds of volunteers and donors across Glynn County.
